Withers’ son Andrew “Rome” Withers was on hand to talk about his father’s important work, and to sign copies of his book about his mother Dorothy Mae Withers.

“I was the person, you know, every time he shot a picture, he would pop a bulb out, I would be the one to go get the bulb and make sure there wasn’t any trash,” said Andrew Withers.

“When he took a picture, what he would normally do, he would normally supply these pictures to all the black newspapers around the country,” said his last living son, Andrew “Rome” Withers.
